WHY

Over the past years, exploring the buying side of the supply chain, I discover challenges are all the same. But we cannot align… why, what makes it that difficult?

Why do sellers, buyers, data managers, operations managers, supply chain managers have difficulties to link?

I decided to start a (small scale) personal platform to start collecting, (re)publishing ideas. I spot in many different publications/websites/statements that the T is key. The T of trust and the T of Transparency.

By now we also enter the T of transformation. The Digital Vortex study of Cisco/IMD is a great read. During the past Covid months (years..) this subject has been put a little backward. But I expect it to come back.

And as with each safari: “you know it is out there”, but when  (even if..) and how you will encounter this will always be a surprise!

My personal learning journey in 2021 (on AI, Deep Learning, Process Mining) has revealed one rare “species” , key in every business “safari”: DATA.

Good data is in many cases not present. Neither is clear who owns the data. It is not part of the big 5 in a safari. I believe data is the Big One…

I’ll add more publications and share more on data in 2022. As it will become the key differentiator, post-covid and to a high degree: it is already today. And of course the link of data to the procurement role in the supply chain.

My motto for 2022:

“Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail”   *)
